Saadoun Retreat

Saadoun Retreat is a residential landscape project conceived as a sequence of outdoor living experiences, where architecture, planting, water, and shaded gathering spaces are carefully integrated into one cohesive environment.

The landscape is organized through a series of connected pathways, terraces, and seating zones that gradually unfold around the residence. Layered tropical and Mediterranean planting softens the architectural edges, while pergolas and shaded lounges provide comfortable spaces for relaxation and social gathering throughout the day.

Water is used as a recurring design element, appearing through linear pools, cascades, and reflective features that introduce movement, sound, and a sense of calm across the garden. Stone paving, dark gravel, timber elements, and warm architectural lighting create a refined material palette that connects the different outdoor zones.

The result is an immersive landscape retreat where greenery, water, texture, and light work together to transform the exterior into an extension of the home—designed equally for movement, gathering, and quiet moments of retreat.

DESIGN CONCEPT

A Landscape Choreographed Through Water, Greenery, and Gathering

The design concept of Saadoun Retreat is centered on transforming the landscape into a continuous sequence of outdoor experiences shaped by movement, water, planting, and gathering.

Pathways and terraces guide users through a series of distinct zones, from intimate seating areas to larger shaded lounges, while maintaining visual continuity across the garden. Dense layered planting frames each space, creating privacy, softness, and a strong sense of immersion in nature.

Water features are integrated as both visual and sensory elements, introducing reflection, sound, and movement throughout the landscape. Pergolas, stone paving, timber details, and low-level lighting reinforce the relationship between architecture and garden while extending the usability of the outdoor spaces throughout the day and evening.

The result is a landscape retreat where water, greenery, material, and circulation are carefully choreographed to create a calm, immersive, and highly livable outdoor environment.
